Cafeteria: Breakfast & Lunch ProgramOrdering Meals | Credits and Payments | Emergency Lunches | Cafeteria Guidelines All of our meals are provided by Alegre Foods which include breakfast, hot lunches, and snacks for our students and staff. The general manager invites you to call her with any questions or problems. The breakfast program is available each morning from 7:30 a.m. until ten minutes before school begins (8:50 a.m. for grades K-3 and 8:20 a.m. for grades 4-8). Students are not allowed to go down to the cafeteria in the mornings for breakfast unless they have a pass from Child-care personnel. Breakfast items are sold on a cash basis only. GVCS’ lunch program is available for students in grades K-8. Hot lunches may be ordered monthly. Students in grades 4 through 8 may either have the regular hot lunch meal or purchase daily a la carte items (with cash only). Ordering MealsPre-paid lunches are $3.50 per day. Payment is made to S & B Foods, and is typically due by the 27th of each month (see the lunch menu for details and specific dates). Monthly lunch menus with order forms (see link on the sidebar) are distributed in advance. Students who do not choose to use the hot lunch program must bring a sack lunch to school and may purchase milk if desired. Milk or juice is included with the regular hot lunch at no additional charge. Students eat on a rotational basis according to grade level. Because lunches are ordered and paid for in advance and the vendor prepares them accordingly, if your child is absent, S&B will credit your account for the missed meal. You will have to note the days of credit on your existing menu, and pay for the days your child will be eating in the next month menu minus the credit from the previous month. If you failed to order for the month (due approximately 1 week before the start of the month - check menu for exact date), you will need to contact Alegre Foods or the Manager. Credits and PaymentsIs your child scheduled to have lunch, but will be absent from school today? Don't forget to contact the Foods Manager to request a credit! We will not call you back if you just request a credit unless there are some issues or problems regarding your child’s lunch. Credit(s) MUST be used for a later date the next month. No exceptions will be made. To use a credit, please call us 24 hours in advance at 858-733-1940 or the school (310) 327-4987 and using extension 311 for cafeteria. Remember, credits can be used only in the month after an absence(s) and if the request was made before 9:00am. If you have credits that you want to use when ordering the next month, please write clearly on the lunch order form how many credits you have and the date you were credited. We only accept cash for every purchase except the pre-paid lunch program. We are not allowed to cash any check in any situations. There will be a $25 dollar fee on returned checks. Please note that you’re responsible for the return check fee. Late fees will be charged if we do not receive your payment in time. We only accept cash or money order for your pre-paid lunch if you have had returned checks two times or more. Emergency LunchesEffective 9/12/2007:

As part of our annual ‘Jump 4 Heart’ campaign, GVCS is focusing on healthy choices. “Won’t Do It Wednesdays” is the slogan for the H2C club (students and staff who choose healthier eating on Wednesdays). Support your kids by packing fruits, veggies, and low fat, low sugar, and lower salt snacks. At school we are offering healthier snacks to purchase.
