About the Athletic Program
The GVCS athletic department is a program in which students in the 4th through 8th grades may participate to develop their character and physical skills. Inter-league sports programs are offered in basketball, volleyball, and football. The Biblical principles for the program involve glorifying God with our bodies, attitudes, and words; doing all things to the best of our abilities as unto the Lord; being a good example to others; developing leadership skills; and working together in harmony to accomplish a goal. Priorities for a GVCS athlete should include God, family, and school work – in that order. The Biblical principles of honesty, fair play, hard work, integrity and joy are emphasized by the athletic department and are essential components to any Christ-centered athletic program.
Athletes must maintain high academic standing by always doing their best in each school subject, demonstrate a coach able attitude, attend and give 100% effort at all practices and games. With respect to attendance at practices, skill level, grade level, and attitude, the GVCS athletic department does not guarantee playing time every game for all student-athletes. Each athlete and parent will be provided with the GVCS Athletic Department Contract, which must be signed before trying out for a team.
Policy on Conflict Resolution
A student participates in the GVCS Athletic Department with the understanding and agreement that he/she and the parents will abide by all established school rules, which includes respect for authority. Students or parents who do not are subject to removal from the athletic department and/or GVCS. The intention of GVCS is to treat all individuals fairly, with dignity and respect. The ultimate goal is to work toward resolution of all conflicts and misunderstandings within the framework of the existing GVCS Discipline Policy.
Game Day Visitor Parking
Anyone staying to watch home games on our campus (3:15-5:00pm) must enter through the far east gate. Special "Game Parking" spaces are created for our parents and visiting basketball teams so they can watch our home games. Alternately, parking is also available along 182nd Street (check street signs for restricted parking days).
NO GAME PARKING WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE TRAFFIC CIRCLE.
