About GVCS

Who We Are  |  Our Mission  |  Accreditation

Gardena Valley Christian School is a K-8 private school in its 45th year of dedicated service, providing a superior Christian education to the children of southern California’s South Bay.

"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
— Proverbs 22:6, KJV

Our mission is to prepare young people to be responsible, moral, problem-solving, Christian citizens effecting positive and innovative changes for tomorrow’s world. To accomplish this goal, we stress and provide for the development of the whole child — mentally, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. A superior academic program emphasizes the fundamentals of God’s Word integrated through communication skills, mathematics, science, and history.

At the heart of these fundamentals is training in research, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. Gardena Valley Christian School students consistently score an average of 1.5 years above national grade level equivalency norms on the SAT 9. Over eighty-five percent of our graduates go on to earn college degrees.

To augment and supplement these areas, we offer an excellent Fine Arts program, elementary and middle school competitive sports programs, technology training, and leadership development opportunities. Gardena Valley Christian School is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) since 1973.

GVCS provides a hot lunch and breakfast program. Before- and after-school child care includes activities for students such as Science Club, music lessons, dance team, primary gymnastics, tutoring and study sessions. Students enjoy our swimming pool all year, including our Summer Program. Our school bus provides transportation to various educational field trips for all grades. GVCS is a safe and happy place to grow in Godly character and academic preparation.

Enrollment is open for new students on April 1st of each year. An admissions packet may be acquired from the school office, Monday through Friday, 8:00a.m. – 4:00p.m. After forms are completed and testing fee is paid, an appointment will be scheduled for testing and interview. Please call for the date of Open House when you can view classrooms and tour the campus.

Mission Statement

“Gardena Valley Christian School exists to build a life foundation in each child through Christ-centered education.”

Each child is created by God in His image as a triune being. The foundation for life is three-fold: spiritual, mental, and physical. All three must be built in order to produce a strong and stable foundation upon which a whole human being develops. Building this foundation requires planning, intentional design, and careful work. Each child is unique and gifted by God. Discovering each child’s giftedness and needs is crucial to true education. The Gospel of Christ is the basis for the value of each child, and the Word of God is the source of our responsibility to develop in him the foundation for a Godly life.
